I will discuss my own experience with Alopecia which is also a medical condition of Jada Pinkett Smith.
I watched the Oscars the other day, and boy, that was a firm slap. Chris just got Rocked by Will Smith.
A song came to my mind, and I think this suits the background theme well… “we WILL, we WILL, ROCK you!”
Why did Will Smith get irritated and become a violent person on live TV? “Bad Boys” character seems to be running in his blood? Well, after researching on Google, I realized that Will’s wife, Jada Pinkett Smith, has a medical condition called, Alopecia.
Making fun of someone else’s health condition seems below the belt. Perhaps this triggered the big slap by Will to Chris.
Jada and I have a similar medical problem. Jada had it in her 40s, but I did experience hair loss at an early age during my teens. At the age of 19, I am developing symptoms, and as a teen, this isn’t very pleasant.
What is Alopecia?
Alopecia is a type of hair loss in which the hair on various body parts, including the scalp, falls out on a permanent or temporary basis. People with Alopecia are not born with the condition. It is a result of an autoimmune disease. Alopecia affects one in fifty people.
When people hear the word “alopecia,” they often think of somebody’s hair falling out. However, Alopecia is actually a medical condition that causes hair loss by the immune system. It’s a type of autoimmune disorder that takes place when the body creates antibodies called immunoglobulin A antibodies (IgA). These antibodies attack hair follicles and cause hair loss.
Types of Alopecia
There are a few different types of alopecia. Alopecia Universalis is the most common form and can cause either complete baldness or a patchy pattern of hair loss. Alopecia areata is another type of alopecia and can cause hair loss on the head but not on the eyebrows, eyelashes, and other body parts.
Androgenetic Alopecia
Which is also known as male pattern baldness. Male pattern baldness is the most common type of alopecia. It is a pattern of hair loss that is most often seen in men and androgens are the main cause of baldness. This type is often referred to as androgenetic alopecia. This usually starts with hair thinning at the temples and progresses to thinning on the top of the head. It is often caused by a genetic predisposition and is unrelated to illness or diet.
Alopecia Areata Totalis
It means that the person is losing the hair on their head. This is not a type of baldness, but the loss of all your hair, with no hope of regrowth. In this health condition, the hair follicles remain intact, and the hair is simply lost. The process is “exfoliation.” This condition can be a result of a severe allergic reaction to a medication. It can also be a result of an autoimmune disorder such as lupus or psoriasis.
Alopecia Areata Universalis
It means that the person is losing their hair on the head and all over the body. Inflammation of the hair follicles is the cause of this type of hair loss. There are various causes of inflammation of the hair follicles, including autoimmune diseases, infections, and stress. Alopecia areata universalis is a form of alopecia areata, which is the most common form of hair loss. Alopecia areata universalis is the loss of hair over your entire body. This hair loss is caused by inflammation of the hair follicles. Inflammation of the hair follicles can be caused by many things, including autoimmune diseases, infections, and stress. Alopecia areata universalis is a form of alopecia areata, which is the most common form of hair loss.
Diffuse Alopecia Areata
This means that a person’s hair is thinning rather than lost patches. This type of alopecia is not the same as alopecia areata, which is a more permanent thinning of your hair. Diffuse alopecia areata is a rare type of alopecia and is often misdiagnosed as alopecia areata. The cause of diffuse alopecia areata is unknown. It is not a type of alopecia that is passed down through families.
Ophiasis Alopecia Areata
Ophiasis alopecia areata causes hair loss in a band shape around the sides and back of a person’s head. It is a condition where the hair follicles stop growing due to an autoimmune disease. It is a common cause of hair loss in people with fair skin and dark hair. It may also cause a thinning of the hair. The hair loss is often symmetrical, meaning that it is the same on both sides of the head. The hair loss can be mild or severe. The hair loss is also permanent. The hair follicles stop growing due to an autoimmune disease.
Is it Life Threatening?
Alopecia is one of the many medical conditions that have been significantly increasing over the past decade. This condition usually has no symptoms and is usually not life-threatening, yet it has a profound effect on the individual who suffers from it. Especially if the person is someone famous and an actress.
What are the Symptoms of Alopecia?
Alopecia is a condition that may also damage the hair follicles on parts of the scalp, such as the eyebrows, eyelashes, and even nails. There are many different types of alopecia, each with its own symptoms.
Alopecia can be either temporary or permanent.
- Temporary alopecia – Stress, change of season, or hormonal changes are the common cause.
- Permanent alopecia – Autoimmune disorders, such as thyroid disease are the common cause.
Alopecia can affect any age group, but it is most common in teenage girls.
The causes of hair loss are a mix of several factors, including emotional stress, nutritional deficiencies, hereditary, hormonal changes, autoimmune disorders, and more. Common symptoms of alopecia include:
- Dry, itchy, and flaky scalp
- Frequent irritation and itching
- Scalp infections
- Red, inflamed, and scaly scalp
- Thin, broken hairs
- Falling hair, especially when the person wakes up in the morning or takes a shower. They will see their hair on their pillows or bathroom floor.
If you are experiencing these symptoms, I strongly suggest that you visit your dermatologist or family physician who will direct you to the best specialist, course of diagnostics, and treatment options.
Is there a Cure for Alopecia? What are the Treatments Available?
Unfortunately, there is no known cure for Alopecia, but treatments are available to help manage the symptoms of the condition. Alopecia is a condition that causes hair loss on one or more parts of the body.
It can affect anyone, but it is most common in women. Autoimmune diseases, hormonal imbalances, stress, and certain medications are the common causes. The most common treatments for alopecia are topical ointments, prescription medications, and laser treatments.
There are a variety of different treatments available, including hair transplants and laser therapy. Some people find that they are able to manage the condition by wearing a hat or using a wig. Others have found that using a topical ointment that contains cortisone can help.
2022 Oscars Awards Circus: Why Will Smith Slapped Chris Rock?
The Oscar is the ceremony for Oscar nominees for the Academy Awards. It is a show put on by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. Honoring the best talents of filmmakers, actors, and producers.
Comedians make jokes at their cost. In fact, that is what they do. Anyone in the comedy world will tell you that. The problem is that sometimes comedians cross the line and offend a whole lot of people. One of the latest comedians to cause a stir is Chris Rock. Specifically, he made a joke at the expense of Jada’s alopecia medical condition by mentioning “G.I. Jane,” a 1997 movie about a female soldier starring Demi Moore.
In 2016, Chris Rock made a joke about Jada Pinkett-Smith at the 2022 Oscars. I guess there’s bad blood between the two.
So why did Will Smith slap Chris Rock? Because Jada Pinkett-Smith was offended by the joke about her medical condition.
Alopecia is a health condition that affects people’s hair, especially males. This is a challenging and painful experience for females, especially Hollywood actresses. Alopecia condition can cause the person to lose all their hair or just part of it. In Jada’s case, she lost almost all of her hair. This condition can be triggered by stress. 2022 Oscars Award is a circus and the most controversial that I have seen so far.
Learnings from Will Smith and Chris Rock?
The 2022 Oscar Award was a disaster. Most celebrities were dressed in their finest, and an award night that was meant to honor the best of Hollywood turned into a media circus. The highlight of the night was when Will Smith slapped the award presenter Chris Rock in the face. The main reason for the untoward incident was due to Jada Pinkett-Smith’s health condition. Jada, a Hollywood actress and wife of Will Smith, has been diagnosed with Alopecia, which is an autoimmune disorder that attacks the hair follicles.
- Do not make fun of someone’s medical condition. If you cross that line, there are consequences.
- Violence has never been and will never solve any problems.
- Keep calm and take a deep breath if you are under tremendous stress.
Conclusion: Will Smith, Chris Rock, and Alopecia
I hope many people learn a lot from this year’s Academy Awards, all that Oscar’s brouhaha. Will Smith slapped Chris Rock because he and his wife Jada did not find the Alopecia joke funny. Never joke about someone else’s health condition, and violence will never be the answer.
In conclusion, the Oscars this year is one for the books. The night was filled with celebrities, impressive performances, and controversies. It was an exciting night to watch and learn about the medical condition of alopecia. It was definitely a night to remember, one that will go down in history.
What a way to receive an Oscar Award!
